Laser Hair Removal

Laser hair removal has been offered at Carteret Ob/Gyn for over 5 years. Teresa DeNeal is a registered nurse with 7 years experience treating unwanted hair. There is always a supervising physician on site during laser sessions and a thorough skin exam is done prior to initiating laser procedures. We adhere strictly to state laws governing use of laser for this purpose.

Understanding Hair Removal

In the past, the usual remedies for unwanted hair were plucking, shaving, waxing, chemical depilatories, or electrolysis. Some are painful, some are messy, and most are only temporary.

LightSheer Diode Laser

Now there is a more effective solution, the new LightSheer Diode Laser, a state of the art system specially designed to remove unwanted hair faster, more reliably, and with less discomfort.

They light emitted by the laser is well absorbed by the pigment located in the hair follicles, vaporizing the pigment, disabling numerous follicles at a time. This eliminates or significantly impedes the hair's re-growth. All skin types can be treated.

What to Expect

The length of a session will vary by the size of the area being treated. More than one treatment is required since the laser can only treat hair in its active growth phase. The LightSheer's special contact-cooling hand piece protects and cools the upper layer of skin before, during and after each pulse. This may result in a tingling sensation. Topical anesthetic is available if necessary. Immediate after effects, if any, are minor and disappear shortly.

Great for women and men, young or old, who want to get rid of excess hair.
